US politics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
US politics - Essay Example The United States still pollutes more than any other nation, and still represents the epitome of a consumerist society: producing little more than nothing, and consuming a large quantity of the worldââ¬â¢s goods. The Environmentalist movement, even though it has achieved mainstream status, remains unable to show progress in curbing these trends. In fact, the mainstream status of the movement puts the movement itself in some jeopardy. That is, the Environmentalist movement in the United States has been quite ââ¬Å"successfulâ⬠, but not successful in the way many of the original environmentalists and conservationists had hoped: commercially successful, which many believe has corrupted the movement beyond repair. American Environmentalism took root in the open frontiers of the untamed West in the 19th century when principles of conservation ran contrary to abusive practices in mining and railroad construction. The role of the environment in American politics changed in 1901 when President Roosevelt instituted practices, like the Reclamation Act, to conserve land and resources across the country (Silveira, 2003). The split between conservation (using resources efficiently) and preservation (not using resources at all) fragmented the environmentalist movement in the 20th century, which provided a source of diversity among these groups. Early environmentalism was an upper-class movement to preserve resources for recreation (Silveira, 2003). Modern Environmentalism primarily began in 1962 with the publication of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, which detailed the devastation of industry on nature. Taken with other social movements in the 1960s, the Environmentalist movement became one more means to infuse particular values into society as a whole. However, rather than attempting social change during this time, Environmentalists sought government intervention to protect the

Spreading Innovation Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Spreading Innovation - Term Paper Example The problem being addressed by this innovation is poor devotion or observance to individually administered management practices particularly prescriptions among diabetic individuals. The outcome associated with this innovation is improved control of individual glycemic levels and reduced costs of treatment since the prevalence of complications is significantly reduced (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2012). This innovation can be introduced in my organization to help improve quality and safety of healthcare services. One of the problems that can be addressed by this innovation in my organization involves cancer patients. Text messages and nurse follow up whereby participants are asked to respond to the text messages outlining their current conditions can help the organization detect changes in patients health status as some cases of cancer may reoccur. Subsequently, responses to text messages by the participants can be used to detect any cases of complications after initial treatment is conducted. As reiterated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (2012), strategies that I may employ to sustain this innovation include making a personal relationship with the participants and also aligning the content of the text messages with individual interests. This is important as it may arouse motivation and conversely help build a construct ive relationship based on trust between the medical practitioners and the participants. In a nutshell, text messaging and nurse follow-up as an innovation can be used to track health progress among patients suffering from a wide range of illnesses. Authority Essay Example for Free
Authority Essay Define the term ââ¬Å"authority.â⬠What does it mean to be authoritative, and how do you go about establishing whether a source is, indeed, credible? Why is it important to not only invite authorities to speak in your writing, but also to establish your own authority as you write? Authority by definition: the power to give orders or make decisions, or the power or right to direct or control someone or something, or the confident quality of someone who knows a lot about something or who is respected or obeyed by other people (Merriam-Webster, 2010). Figures of authority are extraordinarily significant to the credibility within any paper. Including citation from members of society with an advanced skill set will not only solidify proposed ideas, but can also aid in swaying an argument (Ballenger, 17). Valid credibility can go a long way in improving the impact a piece makes on its reader. While it is important to include factual information of the writers proposed idea, it is equally important to establish a voice within the piece. Each article of information that comes from a professional standpoint can be a stepping stone towards the finished product of the writers work. Weaving an authoritative voice simultaneously strengthens the paper as well as the validity of the writers work. Lastly, citing authoritative individuals in a piece will grant the permission of their facts without sending the writer towards plagiarism. Although it is often unintentional, plagiarism happens quite frequently. It is imperative to the writer that citations of an authority figure (ie: scholars, researchers, critics, or specialists) are included in their piece to ensure the professionalism of their message can be brought to light using convincing sources.

Relationship between IQ and GPA Essay
In this study, relationship between Intelligence Quotients (IQ) and Grade Point Average (GPA), the correlation is very strong. Correlation is known to be a positive. The meaning of this correlation is the relationship between the Intelligence Quotients (IQ) and the Grade Point Average (GPA). This correlation implies that individual with high Intelligence Quotients (IQ) have a high Grade Point Average (GPA), in my opinion it does imply that the having a higher IQ means that you brain is Intelligence Quotients. This means you are smarter, therefore your GPA will be higher. This correlation by the information was giving to me, did not have enough information to tell if having a high IQ causes higher GPA. More evidence would have been needed to answer this question appropriate. Students who have metal impairment or other mental disabilities where not mention in this case study in order to determine if it would influence this relationship. The connection between correlation and causation is according to text is the two characteristics co-vary, or vary together, does not resume that one necessary cause the other. Some of the factors that affect the size of this correlation are shapes of distribution, sample sizes, outliers, restriction of range,à aggregate samples, ecological, inferences, random error of measurement, and correlations with third variables (Chen & Popovich, 2002). Correlation is a good predicting GPA for this test because it allows one to compare variables together on one chart. Reference Chen Y, Peter. & Popovich M, Paula. (2012). Torre Titanium La Portada - 1083 Words
Located in Santiago, Chile, the Torre Titanium La Portada is the tallest fully completed building in the city. Soaring well above its surroundings, the building possesses breathtaking views of the nearby Andes Mountains as well as the city that it dwarves. Not only is the shear height a feat that proclaims this building the greatest high rise structure of the last 50 years, but many other aspects of the building must be taken into account. To adequately measure the greatness, one must begin by looking into the building itself, and then to why it differs from ever other building created around the world. The Torre Titanium La Portada is located in between Santiagoââ¬â¢s Metropolitan Park and San Luis Hill in a neighborhood affectionately called ââ¬Å"Sanhattan;â⬠Sanhattan being the high end financial office sector of the El Golf district. The building is one of the first to be built in the conceptual design of Titanium Park. Titanium Park is a four building concept, three id entical 23 story buildings, and the large 52 story Torre Titanium La Portada (Figure 5). As of today, all four buildings have been completed.
